Stellantis not done with ICE engines yet


The Stellantis Group which encompasses brands Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel, Fiat, Jeep and Chrysler, may be committed to an all-electric future in Europe, but they haven't stopped internal combustion development just yet, writes Brian Byrne.

A new inline six petrol engine with power up to 500hp has been revealed, for use in markets such as the US where electric cars won't become the norm for a much longer time. The 3.0 'Hurricane' will debut as the top engine in a Jeep Grand Wagoneer due to premiere at next month's New York Auto Show.

It will be priced higher than the 6.4 V8 that's currently the Grand Wagoneer's top option.

Volkswagen Group Ireland supports Tyre Safety Day

Volkswagen Group Ireland is calling on drivers to actively support the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) ‘Tyre Safety Day’ which takes place today, Wednesday, 6 October. Drivers are being asked to check the tyres on their vehicles to make sure they are not below the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6mm, that they are inflated to the correct tyre pressure and that there is no obvious damage to the tyre. The country’s biggest vehicle distributor is delighted to support this important road safety initiative which is part of Irish Road Safety Week .

New Circle Ks open in Limerick and Sligo

Fourcourt and convenience retailer, Circle K, has officially opened two new additions to its franchise network, writes Trish Whelan .  One is at Circle K Hinchy’s, a newly redeveloped location in Garryspillane, Co Limerick where the store opening will create 15 new local jobs. This redevelopment adds a new shop and forecourt facilities to the premises including super fast electric vehicle chargers, carwash facilities and customer rest rooms. Addition products on the site include kerosene, tractor fuel, pumped AdBlue and a fast-fill truck pump. The new location will be open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 9pm, and Sundays from 8am to 8pm.  The other new Circle K is a brand new service station located in Grange, Co Sligo (pictured above). The station, officially opened on 8 July, will be open Monday to Saturday from 6:30am to 10:30pm and on Sundays from 7:30am to 10:30pm. This new store will use the SafePay end-to-end closed cash system which means cash never needs to be handled...
