Motor Group completes massive warehouse development


With more than 130 motor dealers throughout Ireland to cater for, the Gowan Group has just completed fitting out a 110,000 sq ft warehouse in Dublin's City West Business Campus to ensure speedy distribution of parts, writes Brian Byrne.

The Gowan Group Motor Division now distributes nine car brands, and the new operation will bring management of them under one roof. They are Alfa Romeo, Citroen, DS, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Honda, Jeep, Opel and Peugeot, and Eurorepar multibrand spare parts will also be stocked.

There are 23,000 unique locations for storage of components in the facility, which allows the company to stock components of all sizes, including body panels and glass. Each dealer will receive an overnight delivery service, with three daily deliveries planned for all Dublin dealers.

An Academy for training dealer staff and technicians is also being developed at the site, and there will also be a dedicated marketing suite where dealers can bring potential customers to see specific brands and vehicles.

Volkswagen Group Ireland supports Tyre Safety Day

Volkswagen Group Ireland is calling on drivers to actively support the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) ‘Tyre Safety Day’ which takes place today, Wednesday, 6 October. Drivers are being asked to check the tyres on their vehicles to make sure they are not below the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6mm, that they are inflated to the correct tyre pressure and that there is no obvious damage to the tyre. The country’s biggest vehicle distributor is delighted to support this important road safety initiative which is part of Irish Road Safety Week .

New Circle Ks open in Limerick and Sligo

Fourcourt and convenience retailer, Circle K, has officially opened two new additions to its franchise network, writes Trish Whelan .  One is at Circle K Hinchy’s, a newly redeveloped location in Garryspillane, Co Limerick where the store opening will create 15 new local jobs. This redevelopment adds a new shop and forecourt facilities to the premises including super fast electric vehicle chargers, carwash facilities and customer rest rooms. Addition products on the site include kerosene, tractor fuel, pumped AdBlue and a fast-fill truck pump. The new location will be open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 9pm, and Sundays from 8am to 8pm.  The other new Circle K is a brand new service station located in Grange, Co Sligo (pictured above). The station, officially opened on 8 July, will be open Monday to Saturday from 6:30am to 10:30pm and on Sundays from 7:30am to 10:30pm.
